Green Chef Review: It Rocks!

If you’re anything like me, then the less time spent in the kitchen, the better. The truth is that although I regularly cook for my family, I’m not a big fan of it. I hate the shopping, I hate the dishes, and I hate the worry of making something that might just be a big disappointment.

I had honestly mocked people who tried those at-home meal delivery services, especially those that were designed to help people learn how to cook. I certainly didn’t want to be at the whim of some distance company deciding what I was having for dinner two weeks in the future! Heck, I don’t even know what I want to eat tonight!

So, after years of watching commercials for companies such as Blue Apron, Hello Fresh, Dinnerly, Plated, and more, I finally decided to give it a go. My first stop was with Green Chef.

What Is Green Chef?

Green Chef makes its claim as a healthy alternative to other home delivery meal kits and it has plenty of options from which to choose. Whether you are a paleo type, or you prefer keto meals, vegan meals, vegetarian meals, or gluten-free, you are going to find a lot of choices here.

Like almost all home delivery meal kits, Green Chef allows you to choose a few meals per week for anywhere from two to four people per meal. For starters, I chose an affordable option – three meals per week for two people. I figured that I could get a pretty good idea about the products, the quality of the food, and the complexities of the recipes. What I found out about Green Chef meal delivery kits really changed the way that I’m cooking.

What Do You Get?

When you order from Green Chef, you will first need to designate what type of meals you want – Vegan, Vegetarian, Keto, Paleo, or meals with no restrictions. Then you will be given a wide variety of meals for each week. This isn’t any different from other meal kit delivery services, but what I did find is that the options are very unique.

From my first order, what I really learned about Green Chef is that they’ve got some serious chefs working behind the scenes. The recipes aren’t complicated, but they are unique and you will want to read them over a time or two before you get started.

When my first order arrived, I opened the box to find three individual paper bags, each of which was full of ingredients for that particular meal. All of the ingredients were individually packed, appeared very fresh, and there was no potential for food waste.

Beneath the bags was a separate compartment that was kept even colder with dry ice. This compartment held the items that needed to stay REALLY cold – the shrimp, chicken, beef, etc. I live in Arizona, so proper packaging is pretty important – after all, a box left on my doorstep between April and November is going to get very hot, very quick!

Finally, Green Chef provided a full color, full size recipe sheet for each meal that I was going to make. One thing that I really like about these recipe sheets is that I can save punch some holes in them and put them right into my recipe binder. I have actually already made two of these recipes again on my own and they were brilliant!
