Memories from the Past...
After two weeks of practice we took our annual overnight trip to the Cabrillo Tournament in Aptos and enjoyed the ritual orange juice and sweet rolls during the morning team meeting.

This team won the Golden Gate Conference Championship, during which time they extended the CSM win streak by 19 games to 36 consecutive victories, placed 2nd in Nor-Cals and placed 5th in the State Tournament.

A story I tell all of the time is about the practice where we were trying to teach our goalie not to turn his head. We had players swim down the side of the pool and at 5 yards shoot as hard as they could around or about the goalie's head. In his own inimitable way he said "my mother would not like this drill". The plan worked as he became an All American.

We had beauty and charm at the scorer's table as Patti Gomez was voted all GGC by the referees.

Do you remember taking the team bus to Stanford Hospital emergency after the West Valley game so Dr. Utzinger could sew up Karl's split lip?
I had great support in managing this team from manager Alan Yee and assistant (unofficial) Rich Kuntze.

For the record, I did not throw my watch during the game in the State Tournament, it had a very loose band.
