25 years later...
What a pleasant surprise to see former team member Leland, and his wife Susan, at my first (and maybe last) Open Water swim on August 16, 1998 at Lake DelValle in Livermore, California. We just had a few minutes to visit, but I discovered that the Faust's have two sons and live in San Francisco. Leland has just accepted the post of Water Polo Chairman for the 2001 Maccabian Games. The apple didn't fall far from the tree. Leland's father, Dr. Joseph Faust, was the chairman responsible for selecting the team that won the last gold medal for the United States. That was accomplished in 1973.
