MR. DONNER! HOW ARE YOU DOING!?
I miss those lazy poolside days back in the early 90s. Thanks
for all of the memories. I hope the DWPL is still alive in
some form or another.

Hey there Mr. Donner, I have
a question for you... how are you? by the way, do you know
where i can find a waterpolo club around the downtown san
francisco area? I would like to get back in to the water again?
I would really appreciate any feedback. thanks gavin ps, currently
traded off the waterpolo ball for a rugby ball, but would
love to play both sports again :)

I wanted to let you know that
I enjoyed looking at your website. I wanted to attend the
awards ceremony with Dad (Jack McNees), but the event was
completely sold out. I appreciate you putting the pictures
up. It's fun to see the pictures of the team we've heard so
much about. Thank you.

Great web site. It has brought
back many memories of the CSM swimming and water polo teams.
How lucky we were to have a great coach at the top of his
career. I never worked so hard in my life. I never set any
records but I look back and know that I made the most out
of my ability. I still remember my 2:04.1 in the 200 free.
No record but a personal best, by several seconds. Thanks,
Rich for making us focus, and making us winners. PS: I never
knew about your mother being ill that year. You never said
anything. So sorry to hear that. Lost my mom last year. Ron

Hi Rich! I am a 1998 retiree

not given the chance of working another year for the added
money. Thanks so much for doing this law suit for all of us.

I remember that all too well
but gee do you remember the hypnotize method or how about
playing Hearts on our road trip and trying to shoot the moon
and losing???????? God those were great times for me and i
still feel being part of that family. I remember Tommy getting
sick before each game and the playing and the impossible shoots
being made by Ken B while being underwater. I really miss
those times. "Kong Gorilla" Oh do you remember introducing
me to Dr. Julio B. as Kong and my wife of 33 years as Mrs.
Kong

Rich, I was on your 1970 team...and
you've got in your notes about our '70 team that the championship
was against El Cerrito???? I think it was against Long Beach
because a lot of my friends were on that team that we played....anyway
I ran into Steve Hamman at the UCDavis vs. Stanford game today
and he told me about your web page....this is great....I'm
living in the San Mateo area and would love to catch up with
you. Hope all is well. Regards, John Butler Team of 1970

great to meet you last month. My grandfather spoke highly
of you (and often) in conjunction with his CSM memories. Thanks
so much for emceeing his memorial dinner, for your touching
poem to him, and for the awesome webpage!

Rich--great to see you again
after 20 years. At 64 somehow I was lured back into officiating
water polo. Guess all of the old guys forgot how bad I was
in the 50's amd 60's and here I am on the deck with you at
Burlingame. Wanted to remind you of the old San Jose State
Spartan pool with its shallow end goal. It took me about one
game to realize why you wanted to defend when we were guarding
the deep end as goalie, and you said Towle you take the shallow
end where the water came barely up to your butt. The real
clue was when Charlie Walker issued me a jock with a cup.
Now I know why you kept your deep voice and mine spiked up
an octave or two. Its tuff to guard a cage that is 5' out
of the water. Hello to all the old guys out there from Towle-Water.

Rich It was sure great to
see you the other day at BHS pool. Remembering you from Fred's
and my waterpolo days at CSM was GREAT. Glad to see you still
have the fire for waterpolo, don't change. Great to see all
the pictures of past teams. Interesting web page, true Donner
philosophy. See you around the pool. Mark Meyers Hey, where's

Howzit Rich' Cathey Cort gave
me your url so I decided to drop you a line. I'm still working
for Steve Sanford, only on a semi-retired basis. As soon as
my wife reaches her retirement position in a couple years
we'll quit sitting on our equity and move out of this Silicon
Valley. I keep in regular contact with Dennis Keegan, Rich
Hoskins and Cathey through email. For a while Maggie Lovin
kept me well informed as to the status of all the old Keith
Cole folks. I heard from Dennis that Mrs. Cole passed away.
Maggie had moved East to live with her sister. I hope Mr.
Cole is well. And hope also that you and your family are all
well. You have done a fantastic job on your web site!!!! Drop
me a line when you can. I still remember you as Mr. H2O POLO.

and, as I had good memories of your personality and the job
you did w/ your swimmers, I thought I'd drop a line. Actually,
one of the "low-lights" of my aquatic career was accentuated
by a comment you made...a source of many laughs then and now.

Rich---- Your new section
detailing, with photos, the January 15, 2000, Peter Cutino
Awards dinner at the S.F. Olympic Club, and the reunion of
prehaps the greatest club water polo team ever assembled;
(the Olympic Club's 1959 National Championship Team) is sensational!!!...
What a great party, nice to see all of those old friends,
and amazing to see that no one has changed one little bit...NOW,
I am waiting for you to detail one of the greatest ever High
School water polo teams. The 1952 Sequoia HS team that won
the Nothern California Championship Tourney with wins over
the San Jose State and The U.C. Davis Varsity water polo teams...
What was the name of that great Sequoia Goalkeeper who shut
down the goal against those college teams??? Could it have
been Rich Donner??? I do believe it was.....! You do very
nice work...Keep it up...! Happiness, BobBob Gaughran <natclinics@msn.com>Newport
