An Open Letter

December 23, 2009

Dear PRA member,
This letter is to inform you that on December 15th, the Advisory Board of the Peninsula Referees’ Association convened and voted not to offer contracts to assign water polo officials in 2010. The PRA will not be contracting with any league or school, including BVAL and PAL high schools, or the Community Colleges within the Coast Conference. This difficult decision was derived from the realization that three assigning organizations in Bay Area water polo with a limited supply of officials was not in the best interest of water polo, its’ officials or players as well as from our inability to secure adequate interest in filling key PRA leadership roles.
The Board and I would like to thank you for your dedication to the sport of water polo. On a personal note I would like to thank many of you for the flexibility and sacrifices you made to make the assigning process successful. We wish you continued success in making it possible for the athletes to play.
Rick Curry
PRA President
