| In an effort to provide the best assigning service possible
to the high schools and at the same time provide advance information relative
to assignments to our referees, we have enlisted the services of “the
Arbiter”, an online assigning service. This service has many benefits,
but for the time being, we will only utilize those that are mandated to
fulfill our assigning service contracts.
The Arbiter recommends that either Internet Explorer or Firefox are used
as your web browser. MacIntosh users may experience minor compatibility
issues if Safari is used as a web browser.
After you have received your welcome letter
you are asked to do the following:
1. LOG IN:
Log in to Arbiter by creating your personal screen name and password.
Our group is the Peninsula Referees’ Association, group # 102694
Be sure that you are on “Start Up” page (link in gray bar
above Arbiter logo)
2. ACCOUNT:
Information, use to input or update personal information such as phone
numbers, address, etc.
To upload a picture you must sign on using a PC since, for the time being,
the system has identified incompatibility issues with MacIntosh. click
“save” when you have completed your entries.
2.1 Forms: use this to access links for the new PRA Feeback forms, Incident
reports.and payment invoices.
3. AVAILABILITY:
3.1 Under the header “Blocks” select Calendar, then select
“Action”
You may block a day, part day and clear all blocks by following the directions
below:
Block Dates
The Block Dates procedure is found by clicking the BLOCK DATES AND TIMES
link on the Start Page. This screen will display a calendar of the current
month. You may move to future months by clicking the next month’s
name located to the right of the current month or move back a month in
similar fashion. This procedure only allows you to set dates and times
you are NOT available. This is done by first setting the time you are
unavailable using the Start Time and Ending Time fields. Check the ALL
DAY box if you want to block entire days. Next, click the day on the calendar
to which you want to apply the unavailable time. The time for which you
have blocked that day will then display beneath the calendar. Continue
clicking additional days to which you want to apply the same blocked times.
Adjust the times for blocking days with different availabilities. The
dates will then become blue if applying a partial-day block or red if
applying an all-day block. If you work every day, you may want to enter
a block of 12:00am to 5:00pm (or whatever time you are actually able to
leave work, please do not attempt to incorporate travel time as the Arbiter.NET
already includes this) and then click every Mon-Fri day of the season.
A day can have more than one blocked time. For instance,
an official may set blocks from 8:00am to 12:00pm and from 7:00pm to 11:00pm
which would still allow the official to work an afternoon game between
12:00pm to 7:00pm. To do this, set the first blocked time (8:00am to 12:00pm)
as instructed above. Then change the Start Time and Finish Time to reflect
the second block (7:00pm to 11:00pm) and click the BLOCK button. Both
blocks for the highlighted day will then be displayed beneath the calendar.
To change a blocked date--- simply delete the existing
block (see below) and then add the correct block.
Deleting Blocked Dates---Click on the date that is currently
blocked to display the block details beneath the calendar. Click the trash
can icon to remove the block. To block a date or a time, enter the date
range, and the time range, then click apply. You may change this at your
will and the assignor will be notified of the change.
3.2 On that same page you will notice a color coded LEGEND to assist you
in recognizing and carrying out your assignments in a timely fashion.
3.3 You will receive your assignments via E-mail and trust that you will
accept them with an absolute minimum of “turnbacks”.
